Chartered Accountant (SA)

A Financial Manager in your business, without the full-time salary.

Growing companies worldwide are turning to part-time ("fractional") financial leadership: the same senior insight a full-time FM or CFO brings, delivered a few days a month at a fraction of the cost. We embed a qualified Financial Manager in your business, on your team, at your systems, accountable for your numbers.

Too big for just bookkeeping.
Not ready for a full-time hire.

Somewhere past the start-up stage, the numbers outgrow the bookkeeper: cash needs forecasting, the bank wants management accounts, pricing and margins need real analysis, but a full-time Financial Manager is a senior salary the business can't justify yet. The part-time model closes exactly that gap, and it's why fractional finance leadership has become one of the fastest-growing services worldwide.

Every month

  • Management accounts & commentary
  • Actual vs budget, with variances explained
  • 12-month rolling cash flow forecast
  • Debtors & creditors under control
  • A monthly sit-down on the numbers

Through the year

  • Annual budget built with you
  • Pricing, margin & profitability analysis
  • Finance packs for banks & funders
  • Internal controls & process improvement
  • Systems & automation guidance

How it works

  • Agreed days per month, typically 1 to 4
  • Fixed monthly fee, scoped upfront
  • Scales up or down as you grow
  • Backed by the full WMB team
  • No recruitment, no payroll overhead

Signs your business is ready

  • You only really see the numbers once a year, at financial statement time, and by then it's history.
  • Cash flow surprises you: profitable on paper, tight in the bank.
  • The bank, a funder or an investor is asking for management accounts and forecasts you don't have.
  • You're pricing by feel, and can't say which products, jobs or clients actually make money.
  • Finance admin is eating the owner's week instead of someone owning it.

Two or more of these, and a day or two of senior financial management per month typically pays for itself.

Owners ask us

What is a part-time (fractional) Financial Manager?

A qualified financial manager who works inside your business a set number of days per month rather than as a full-time employee. You get senior financial leadership (reporting, cash flow, budgets, controls) at a fraction of the cost of a permanent appointment.

How is this different from my bookkeeper or accountant?

A bookkeeper records what happened; an accountant reports on it. A Financial Manager works ahead: forecasting cash, setting budgets, tightening controls and giving you the numbers to make decisions before month-end, not after year-end. The three roles complement each other; we make sure they connect.

How many days a month do I need?

Most growing businesses start with one to four days per month. We agree the scope upfront against what the business actually needs, and it scales up or down as things change: busy season, a funding round, a quiet patch.

What does it cost?

A fixed monthly fee, agreed before we start and scoped to the days and deliverables. As a benchmark: a full-time Financial Manager commands a senior salary plus benefits. The part-time model delivers the same discipline for a fraction of that commitment, with no recruitment risk.

Can this grow into something bigger?

Yes, that's the point. Many clients start with a day a month and scale as the business grows. If the business eventually justifies a full-time hire, we'll tell you so, help you recruit, and hand over a clean, well-run finance function.
